A library was being relocated to a newer and larger facility. Paolo’s role included participating as part of a design team, gaining a thorough understanding of the library functions, making recommendations for purchase of equipment, conducting follow-up meetings and consultation, working with suppliers, developing and presenting a training session serving as an expert resource after opening the branch. The report “identified clearly the key considerations in the planning – efficiency in workflow in a high volume environment and ergonomic considerations for staff – and all recommendations were in keeping with these recommendation. As well, the recommendations were clearly articulated. The report included supplemental materials, such as photographs and diagrams, which made the content very clear to understand.”  Results included a 35% increase in volume with only modest increase in staffing levels, staff are better able to manage symptoms and physical concerns through stretching and conditioning activities, and an 85% drop in staff concerns. A breast cancer screen tool where several hundred screening mammograms were completed every week was assessed... “He spent adequate time with the staff members and me to ensure he understood the full scope of our issues. The report he prepared is easy to understand, yet very detailed, and provided me with the evidence I required to escalate this issue to high authorities within my organization. “The Town of (…) contracted the services of Paolo Naccarato to perform an ergonomics audit for 5 different areas with the Town of…The process that was undertaken included site visits to five different town owned facilities. Each area was scrutinized in detail and recommendations were forwarded from the report. The report was thorough and easy to read. We used it as a tool for other workers at each building to utilize and make changes at their own workstation. Pictures that were included in the report made it easier to follow and it showed how improvements could be made at other workstations… This report was circulated through our joint Occupational Health and Safety Committee and from there it was circulated to all employees of the town.” Director

Workplace risk factors identified lack of keyboarding skills for intensive computer work. A local college was used to teaching classes over a period of time. Results revealed the course was applicable to the job, an 82% decrease in symptoms relief or elimination and a 56% increase in productivity.
